East Central Community College's nationally ranked #12 Lady Warrior softball team won its second sweep of the youth season on Monday, February 13, this time over the Marion Military Institute Lady Tigers at Softball Park in Decatur.

East Central won the opening doubleheader 6–3, then took the last game by rule on a five-inning 8–0 streak.

The Lady Warriors, who play in Division II of the National Junior College Athletic Association, are now 4-0 going into the youth season. Marion Military, an NJCAA Division I program, fell to 7-7.

Freshman catcher Cassie Obman of Caledonia High School scored on a run in the bottom of the first inning to give East Central their first lead. Marion tied the score at 1–1 with a solo home run in the top of the second and extended their lead to 3–1 with two more runs in the third. From there, the Lady Warriors scored on their next four hits for the win.

Freshman third baseman Madalyn McMahon of Neshoba Central singled left field in the bottom of the third and sophomore first baseman Brittney McCray of Sumrall High School drove in the tying run in the bottom of the fourth. East Central scored twice more in the fifth on two hits by Marion and an error. Sophomore left fielder Abby Winstead of Sebastopol scored on the final Lady Warrior run in the bottom of the sixth.

McMahon had three hits in the first game, while McCray, Obman and sophomore Newton County High School second baseman Latesia Davis each had two hits.

Freshman Kaitlyn Oswalt of Heritage Academy in Columbus earned her third victory of the year in three district games. He gave up four hits and struck out three.

Game two was a pitchers' duel until late in the quarter when freshman shortstop Kayla Beckham, a product of Neshoba Central, hit a solo home run to break the scoreless game. The Lady Warriors extended their lead to an 8-0 finish in the fifth inning on an RBI single by McMahon, a two-run single by Obman, a batter, a two-run inning by Clinton High School freshman Tagen Remmel and RBI single by freshman Marlee Parkes off Nanih Waiya.

Freshman pitcher Mackenzie Rousseau of Vanderbilt Catholic High School in Houma, Louisiana, earned her first win of the year and threw a three-hit shutout.

East Central will travel to Scooba on Thursday, February 16th to face East Mississippi Community College in a doubleheader starting at 1pm. The Lady Diamond Warriors go home on Saturday, February 18 to host Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa at 1:00 pm. and 3 pm Shelton State is ranked #10 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll.
